Christmas is now over and it’s time to take on the New Year! This New Year brings new faces to the Eight Point Two team. Sinead and Elyse are both students at Sheffield Hallam University, working in the office and on the events.

As the New Year begins, resolutions have been made – now it’s time to follow them through! For many of us it’s time to get fit! We have a lot of events lined up throughout the year which can challenge people’s fitness; running, walking, and cycling. Fears shall also be challenged in 2011 with our new abseiling events! See if you can step up to the challenge and conquer your fears at the Manchester Velodrome abseil in March. If this 40m challenge isn’t high enough, we’ve even got a 50m high abseil at the Mersey Tunnel Ventilation Shaft for you to drop down! Check out our website for more abseils coming up in 2011.

We have our extremely popular Whole Hog events, and we have a feeling these are at the top of everyone’s ‘to-do’ list this year! We have two very successful Marie Curie Whole Hog’s, as well as the ‘Safe at Last’ Whole Hog; each charity raising money for their charity – a challenge for a good cause! As well as these we also have our open Whole Hog’s in Suffolk and Walesby in November, which both proved incredibly successful in 2010.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks walks will be coming up in June and September. Both are excellent opportunities to take on a local walking challenge in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with outstanding surroundings. This event can be taken on in a team of friends or work colleagues or you can take on the event individually – whichever you prefer!

We also have the exclusive London to Paris cycling event coming up at the beginning of May, with O2 and Ventura teaming up to raise money for the Mark Gorry Foundation.

Check out our website which is constantly updating with new events.

Whether it’s a personal or team challenge, push yourself to the limit and see what you can really do. You could even go that extra step and choose a charity to fundraise for!

We hope to see you soon in the up and coming events of 2011, and hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. Here’s to 2011!

Just back from a mammoth drive up to Aberdeen where we have been looking at a new site for the NEW Aberdeen Whole Hog for Marie Curie. The Balfron Whole Hog raised just over £50,000.00 for Marie Curie in 2010 so they wanted to find a new venue to increase their race series. With the date now set for the 24th September 2011 (Balfron is on the 21st May 2011) all you Hoggers North of the border can look forward to more hills, thrills and spills (and lakes and mud) in September!
