Hadrians Wall and Yorkshire 3 Peaks Walks

A busy walking weekend (and football too) for 8.2. We ran two walking events this weekend. For the CF Trust we had a group of nearly 40 ladies who completed a decent section of Hadrians Wall on Saturday followed by a bit of pampering on the Sunday! The walk was a big success and proves to be more challenging than you might expect. If you do ever decide to walk this famous landmark then be prepared for a few hills along the way!

There were definitely a few hills on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and a small group of intrepid fundraisers managed the challenge in a very respectable time – Ill let their comments speak for themselves:

“We did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on Saturday 12th June with Ian and the team from Eightpointtwo.

Without Ian and Mark  I certainly wouldn’t have done it. We were pleased with our time of 10 hours 35 minutes and very grateful for those who stuck with us even though we slowed them down. Both Ian and Mark kept us going.

They, and Rachel, were fantastic. We will certainly recommend others to use Eight Point Two. I do a lot of work in the Third Sector and will be recommending you to clients”.

Derbyshire Bike Ride for MAG

It was a hugely busy day in Derbyshire with at least 3 big events happening! We were running a 3 route cycle ride (16, 30 and 55 mile) out from the Pavillion Gardens and visiting some of the White Peaks most stunning locations (and hills)!! The ride was completed on behalf of the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) who are based in Manchester. The cycle went very well despite the disgusting weather in the morning. Luckily the sun came out in the afternoon but the rain soon followed again and the last cyclists (who came in at 5.30pm) got a little wet!

We also ran an abseil for the Alzheimers Society at the KPMG building in Leeds where some brave solicitors managed the to do ‘the drop’ for a great cause!

Safe At Last Challenge Event

We had a fantastic weekend for the 1st Safe At Last Challenge Event. Eight Point Two put together the race in the grounds of Lord and Lady Scarbrough’s estate in Sandbeck. The 10k course was quick but great fun. We had just enough rain to wet up the muddy sections but the sun came out for the race and everyone enjoyed the weather!

The race is in a fantastic site and thanks must go to Lord and Lady Scarbrough for allowing us to use their grounds for the event. Next years event should be even more fun as we aim to use more of the lakes and rivers which we only scratched the surface of this year! well done to all those who took part. Well done to the winners and also to the winning fundraising team who managed to raise a whopping £1200+ (winning them a prize for highest fundraisers).
