It was a stunning weekend for the events we had planned for the weekend. Sunday saw the Mersey Tunnel abseil take place. It was a lovely day and we had abseilers taking part on behalf of MGA, Warrington Grass Roots and the Cats Protection League plus a few individuals who raised money for their own charities.

We also had a National 3 Peaks Challenge on behalf of GVA Grimley who were raising money for MENCAP. The weather was amazing but probably a bit hot for hiking up and down hills. Ben Nevis was very warm but was also accompanied with very poor conditions on the sumit with very little visibility. Scafell was stunning – when we started walking at 10am it was still very warm but a clear night and bright moon meant that head torches were (almost) not needed! Finally, Snowden was again crystal blue skies and very hot. The two teams were very succesfull and we had some of our fastest mountain times ever. Congratulations to all those who done a sub 24 hour 3 Peaks (17 hours for a few!!!). Fantastic effort! Well done to all the rest who took place also.

Just one grumble – I was disapointed to see how much rubbish there was lying around on the mountains -to all those people out there please dont leave your rubbish on the hills, there is no one to clear it up and it isnt necessary – just carry it out with you. Here’s a picture of the stunning views early on Sunday morning at the start of the ascent of Snowden on the Miners Track!
